Abstract
Background: Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.,Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest TB burden among 8 countries, namely India (27%), China (9%), Indonesia (8%), the Philippines (6%), Pakistan (5%), Nigeria (4%), Bangladesh (4%) and South Africa (3%) (Indonesia Health Profile, 2018). Indonesia is a country with the 5th most TB patients in the world after India, China, South Africa and Nigeria (WHO, 2009). It is estimated that the number of TB patients in Indonesia is around 5.8% of the total number of TB patients in the world. It is estimated that every year there are 429,730 new cases and 62,246 deaths. The incidence of smear positive TB cases is around 102 per 100,000 population. With a high number of tuberculosis cases which will increase the transmission of the disease, appropriate control measures are needed. One of the main strategies in controlling tuberculosis is case finding and treatment of tuberculosis. The TB control program that has been recommended by WHO (World Health Organization) and has been implemented in Indonesia since 1995, namely the DOTS strategy (Directly Observed Treatment Short course).
Research Objectives: To find out the description of TB treatment in 2019-2020 in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY). Knowing the discovery of patients and results of TB treatment in 2019-2020 in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).
Methods: This type of research is a descriptive qualitative survey research using secondary data, namely TB case finding data in 2019-2020 at the Puskesmas in the Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region.
Research Results: An increase in TB cases also occurred in the DIY Province, namely in the Sleman Regency area because until now the pandemic period was still happening which resulted in the survey of health service units from house to house not being optimal, as well as limited access to treatment to health service units, during the pandemic. It also results in quite large impacts ranging from economic impacts, social impacts to health impacts. The discovery of TB patients and treatment is an important part of the success of the staff's commitment in carrying out standardized treatment for TB patients.
Conclusion: The discovery of TB patients before the 2017-2018 pandemic compared to the 2019-2020 pandemic was not significantly different. The results of TB treatment in 2017-2018 before the pandemic compared to the 2019-2020 pandemic did not decrease. Although there are many obstacles, the discovery and treatment of TB continues as usual, due to the high commitment of the staff
