Abstract

Background: Cigarettes consumed produce cigarette smoke which is very harmful to health. Riskesdas data in 2018 shows that 2/3 of Indonesia's population is in the productive age, namely teenagers aged 15-19 years is the age when teenagers smoke for the first time. To overcome this problem, based on the regulation of the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 64 of 2015 concerning Non-Smoking Areas in the school environment, a nonsmoking area is a room or area that is declared prohibited for smoking activities or an area that is declared prohibited for smoking activities or producing, selling or producing activities. promote cigarettes. Health education is more effective when it is targeted at middle school students.

Purpose: Knowing the application of the No Smoking Area (KTR) policy on smoking behavior in SMP N 3 Kalasan.

Research methods: This research was conducted at SMP N 3 Kalasan using a crosssectional approach. The total population in this study were all school residents, as many as 231. The sample in this study was 70 male school residents.

Results: Implementation of KTR as many as 47 (67.1%) respondents said it was effective, while respondents who said it was not effective were 23 or (32.9%) respondents. Smoking behavior as many as 26 (37.1%) respondents behaved smoking while 44 (62.9%) respondents behaved not smoking.

Conclusions: There is a relationship between the implementation of the KTR policy with smoking behavior p-value = 0.004 (≤0.05).
