HUBUNGAN DUKUNGAN KELUARGA DENGAN SELF CARE MANAGEMENT PADA LANSIA HIPERTENSI DI PUSKESMAS PRAMBANAN SLEMAN

Background : Elderly with hypertension is a vulnerable population that requires more comprehensive and intensive approach, to achieve optimal blood pressure control. One of the management of hypertension to lower blood pressure is self care management. Elderly with hypertension need family support in self-care management. family support provided in the form of emotional, appreciation, appraisal, instrumental, and informational support.

Objectives: This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and self care management in the elderly with hypertension

Methods: This type of research is quantitative using descriptive analytic method, cross sectional design. The population in this study was the elderly with hypertension at the Prambanan Health Center. The technique used in sampling is stratified random sampling. Total population 154 people, sample 111 people. Data collection tools using questionnaires and data analysis using the Spearman rank test.

Results: the results of this study indicate that family support with self-care management has a significant value (p=0.040<0.05, so it is accepted that there is a relationship between family support and self-care management of hypertension in the Prambanan health center, the correlation coefficient is 0.195, which means closeness). very low relationship between the variables of family support and self-care management.

Conclusion: There is a relationship between family support and self care management of elderly hypertension at Prambanan Public Health Center, Sleman Yogyakarta
