HUBUNGAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN KEPALA KELUARGA TENTANG HIPERTENSI DENGAN PENGGUNAAN OBAT TRADISIONAL DI RW 03 DAN 04 DUSUN CANDISARI KABUPATEN SLEMAN YOGYAKARTA

Background: Hypertension is one of the most dangerous health problems worldwide. Hypertension is a major risk factor that leads to cardiovascular disease. Hypertension has resulted in the death of about 8 million people every year, of which 1.5 million deaths occur in Southeast Asia, one third of the population suffers worldwide, around 972 million, is likely to increase to 29.2% in 2025, including Indonesia. This prevalence places DIY in 4th place as the province with the highest hypertension cases. The area that is vulnerable to date is Sleman with the number of cases reaching 87,430 cases, especially in Candisari Hamlet. One of the efforts to increase hypertension is to increase the knowledge of family heads with how to use traditional medicine.

Objective: To find out whether there is a relationship between the knowledge of the head of the family about hypertension and the use of traditional medicine in Candisari Hamlet, RW 03 and 04, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

Methods: This research is quantitative analytic, with a cross sectional design. The population of this study were all 138 family heads, the sampling technique was proportional stratified random sampling with age 40-62 years as many as 103 families. Bivariate analysis test using Spearmen's Rank formula that the knowledge of the head of the family with the use of traditional medicine with pvalue (0.002) and correlation coefficient (0.298).

Result: There is a relationship between the knowledge of the head of the family and the use of traditional medicine in RW 04 and 03 Candisari Hamlet, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta.
