GAMBARAN TINGKAT STRES DAN INTENSITAS MEROKOK MAHASISWA STIKES WIRA HUSADA YOGYAKARTA

Background: Stress is a complex mechanism and produces a non-specific response to any demands on the load on it that are interrelated, both physiologically, psychologically, and behaviorally on the individual himself. Signs and symptoms of stress will first experience digestive disorders, behavioral symptoms (abusing drugs, smoking, etc.), emotional symptoms (young restlessness, apathy, feeling guilty, etc.), physical symptoms. From the results of the researcher's interview with male students from STIKES Wira Husada Yogyakarta, it was found that, students usually consume a lot of cigarettes when hanging out with friends. According to respondents, they are more relaxed and more confident when consuming cigarettes. One student said that smoking can relieve stress caused by college problems.

Aim: Knowing the description of the level of stress and the intensity of smoking students of Stikes Wira Husada Yogyakarta.

Method: This type of research is quantitative with descriptive method, the approach used is cross sectional. By using primary data students of STIKES Wira Husada Yogyakarta with the number of respondents 55 male students who actively smoke

Conclusion: The results of this study were obtained from 55 male students who actively smoked were in the mild category with the stress level of students being in the normal category.
